The Brighton Rotary Foundation/Kaplan Test Prep Partnership

In 2014, the Brighton Rotary Foundation and Kaplan Test Prep forged a partnership to assist in the preparation and practice for students taking the college entrance SAT and ACT exams.  Through this partnership, all students that register for the Brighton Rotary Foundation sponsored practice tests receive free access to the Kaplan online test preparation materials (a $299 value). Test registration fees are used to fund educational scholarships for middle and high school students provided by the Brighton Rotary Foundation.

Colleges and universities usually require ACT or SAT standardized-exam scores for acceptance and scholarship/financial-aid decisions.  Studies show that student scores will generally improve by taking these exams more than once.  Approximately three times each academic year (September/October, January/February, and April/May), our Brighton High School Interact Club in conjunction with the Brighton Rotary Club offers practice exams for area students.  After each practice exam is graded, our Kaplan instructor will distribute results and review study, test-taking, and time management strategies in addition to suggesting effect ways to improve scores.  The Score Reporting and Strategy Session usually occurs two weeks after the practice test.

The Kaplin online test prep is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week, and provides self-paced 5- to 15-minute online lessons for various subject areas that total over 50 hours of instruction, over 1,000 practice questions in the style of the questions found on the SAT or ACT, up to four full-length practice tests, and individualized student progress reports.  Kaplan also offers a variety of other instruction and review options to assist students achieve their highest scores.  For more information about Kaplan Test Prep, contact www.kaptest.com

To encourage middle school students to begin planning for their future, the Brighton Rotary Foundation will award by random draw one Academic Enrichment Scholarship with a maximum value of $250 to a student in grades 6-8 that registers and completes a Brighton Rotary Foundation sponsored practice test.  At the Score Reporting and Strategy Session for each practice test, an award winner will be selected by random draw and must be accepted into and attend an approved academic enrichment program of her/his choice during the current academic year or associated summers.  Note that a student is only allowed to win once each academic year.  The scholarship check will be written directly to the student’s chosen academic enrichment program.

Now is the time for students to start considering potential career paths that will complement their strengths and passions while helping to set goals for excellence and achievement.  The Brighton Rotary Foundation is committed to supporting the educational efforts of students!
